Discovery Attender
Discovery Attender From Sherpa Software, by
Brett Burney.
I found Discovery Attender to be an extremely
simple and effective tool for searching through a hefty stack of email. It wasn’t overly complicated,
and after a couple of searches, I became very
comfortable with the logical steps involved in the
Search Wizard.
Discovery Attender is a nice addition to the toolbelt
of anyone who regularly needs to search through
email to find messages relevant to a litigation matter.

Discovery360
All-In-One eDiscovery and Document Review, by
Taeho Lim.
Wouldn’t it be nice to tap into every type of document analysis or search tool available today? If you want to do that with your eDiscovery cases, you have two choices use multiple singlefunction programs and hope you can get them to integrate with one another, or use a single multiple-function program that does everything. If the latter approach sounds better to you, check out Discovery360 from InterLegis.

The Wave of the Future - SaaS Technology Makes its Mark on the Law Office, by
Kim Plonsky.
It seems obvious to me that the SaaS model is the wave of the future, and is here to stay. With the Internet having taken on the mantle of a utility, and software technology having soared to amazing heights, the timing could not be better to consider these tools for electronic discovery.
Can it be long before physically installed software is a thing of the past? Only time will tell. But when and if it
happens, we all likely will be able to concentrate more on our expertise as legal professionals and less on becoming
computer gurus.

Discovery 360
Discovery360 DataMapper, by
Brett Burney.
Not too many other tools in the industry can boast visual features like those built into Discovery360 and, earlier this year, InterLegis even announced a Mac version of its software — something that truly is unheard of in the legal software market. Pros: Customizable visual “peeks” into electronic data; visible timeline provides overview of relevant activity; ability to see relationships between e-mail authors and recipients.
Cons: Scant support documentation.
Verdict: I recommend this product for litigation support professionals who are looking for a comprehensive tool to inspect and process electronically stored information.

Lexbe.com
Lexbe, by
Kim Plonsky.
Lexbe's organization and structure, combined with its familiar browser interface, makes it one of the easiest software applications to learn that I have ever used. Two of Lexbe’s best features are its SaaS format and the added security it provides for exchanging privileged and confidential electronic documents. OCR of uploaded PDF files is automatic. The Lexbe Viewer supports over 100 different file formats. Lexbe adds structure and organization to the process of case management, litigation management, document management, while providing a means to collaborate on a case with others securely over the Internet through a document repository or for electronic discovery.

Predictive Pricing Estimator
Useful E-Discovery Cost Estimator, by
David Ferris.
With the Predictive Pricing Estimator ftom Orange Legal, you go online and plug in the volume of electronic information to be considered, in gigabytes. You also indicate the number of people who may be reviewing the material. The total cost of e-discovery is then estimated, using common industry estimates for such elements as cost of document processing, time taken to review each document, the cost of a reviewer’s time, and computer service or software charges.

Catalyst
Catalyst CR 7.1, by
Mary Girsch-Bock.
Catalyst CR provides an easy-to-use search capability, along with access to millions of online documents, and offers a great selection of customization features that allow you to retrieve and save previous search results for future use. However, it's .ore difficult to navigate when performing complicated searches. Catalyst CR receives my recommendation because it’s easily navigated, provides quick access to necessary documents, offers good report capabilities and helps keep large quantities of documents under control.

CaseLogistix
Anacomp’s CaseLogistix 5.2, by
Timothy Piganelli.
Overall this tool has to be one of the top choices for document review with its native file review capability. Attorneys and law firms that have an in-house IT or litigation support staff to handle the SQL application
would find CaseLogistix useful and very workable. My top three features are the Document Native Review tool, the IntelliFolders and their functionality, and the prompted search feature.

OneO Discovery Platform
Ferris Research on OrangeLT™, by
David Ferris.
The integrated analysis, processing, and review is certainly an attractive feature, making life a lot simpler for the user. Today, these different phases are commonly handled by separate products. Over the long term, such integration is likely to win out over cobbling together best-of-breed solutions.

SafeCopy 2.1 Mobile
Review: SafeCopy 2.1 Mobile, by
Bruce A. Olson.
SafeCopy 2.1 Mobile by Pivotal Guidance is an inexpensive tool that may enable you or your client to maintain document security and validity as part of the discovery process. SafeCopy is not, however, intended to be a forensic application that can create a forensic image of a drive. SafeCopy offers a cost effective option that fills a needed niche.

CaseLogistix
CaseLogistix Discovery Partner, by
Jonathan Franklin.
I like this product a lot. It’s powerful, easy to use and intuitive. Candidly, it’s the first program in this market segment that my firm wants to use. In fact, the firm now is using it. Dynamic document analysis and management. Its SQL-based system is powerful, highly scalable and robust. No predefined templates for library creation. An integrated training video would be nice. It exceeds expectations.

IPRO
IPRO ePrint-IT, by
Milton Hooper.
EPrint-IT is very easy to use and features only one screen with which you mainly work. Once installed, you immediately can start putting ePrint-IT to use. The customizable options are easy to understand and adjust. It's a little pricey at $695 for the first year ($195 each year thereafter) and might not be worth the investment for someone who doesn't have a lot of electronic documents. If you are involved in EDD and don't have time to learn new software, ePrint-IT might be the right match for you.
