Rusin Plays BigHand in Digital Dictation
BigHand, by
Joyce Hamel.
We have had great success introducing a new technology, in this case BigHand digital dictation, to our law firm. Success has been defined by rapid user adoption, a much improved document production workflow process, remote access and remote mobility options that did not exist before, and tangible and measurable return on our software investment. Moving forward, Rusin Maciorowski & Friedman, Ltd. will look to add more mobility options by embracing a broader BlackBerrry dictation rollout initiative.

Legal Dictation Needs to Talk Digital, by
Enrico Schaefer.
Digital dictation technology helps lawyers dictate and immediately route the dictation to support staff 24/7 from any location in the world. While a portable minicassette recorder lets you dictate anywhere, using cassettes requires physically handing a cassette tape to support staff before transcription can occur.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking
Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 Preferred, by
Elsa Wenzel .
Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 isn't perfect, but it's the best dictation software available. We don't find this upgrade necessary for the most basic dictation, although new features may benefit heavily accented English speakers and those who rely heavily on voice commands.

Big Hand
Dictation Done Right, by
Liz Brown.
BigHand Digital Dictation is prefered to tapes, no doubt about it! The dictation sounds very clear, and also like how we can pick and choose dictations on the basis of urgency. It's definite that we are able to get documents back to the attorneys more quickly than with tapes.

Dragon
Dragon NaturallySpeaking Legal 9, by
Kim Plonsky.
Offers an abundance of help features, tools and resources with well-done tutorials accessible directly from the Dragon Bar. Common commands are available by simple voice command. Dragon's macro creation tools for dictating and recalling text and graphics, and the ability to phrase commands in a variety of ways, are stellar components that are crucial to achieving optimum accuracy. As with other versions, Dragon NaturallySpeaking Legal 9 includes a high-quality, noise-canceling microphone. I have no hesitation recommending Dragon NaturallySpeaking Legal 9 for legal professionals looking to use technology to its fullest, especially those who dislike typing, those who dictate well and frequently in their practices, and those with physical limitations or disabilities. As far as speech recognition software, Dragon is the de facto standard, representing the best in state-of-the-art dictation software.
