Case Management, by
Terri Olson.
Case management software is designed to provide the lawyer with an up-to-date database of information. Inexpensive programs can be very feature rich, and should certainly include solid calendar control, flexible contact and case information databases, note-taking capabilities, basic network functionality.

Amicus Attorney Upgrades for Small Firms, by
Richard C. Belthoff, Jr..
While Amicus Attorney Small Firm Edition 2008 is mostly an incremental upgrade to previous versions rather than a completely new version, there are some useful additions (namely, Automatic Spell Check and Auto-Text). However, some of the new features are not extremely useful (e.g., the Navigation Pane). There is additional information for consideration on Gavel & Gown's Web site. Overall, though, the upgrade was worthwhile for me. You also may feel the same way after you try it.

Stephen Bird.
Amicus Attorney Organizer is well suited to solo practitioners, and Amicus is used in many small to mid-size firms that handle personal injury, family, general litigation, corporate and commercial work. Amicus is most useful when combined with a legal accounting program. Its main strengths, are the program’s ease of use, workflow and systems approach.

Time Matters, Amicus Attorney
Practice Management Face-Off: Time Matters vs. Amicus Attorney, by
Wells Anderson, Natalie Thornwell and Dan Pinnington.
Ideally, practice management software should be in place as the central nervous system in every law office or legal department. The ability of these products to share and manage the critical information that lawyers and law office staff need is nothing short of amazing. They can make an individual practice, and indeed an entire firm, far more efficient and profitable, with the added benefit that they can help implement basic practice management processes that can help prevent the common types of errors that lead to errors or malpractice claims.

Amicus Attorney
Amicus Attorney 7, by
Grace L. Suarez.
Amicus Attorney Software is a practice management program with various modules to help lawyers and their staff manage their work. Version 7 expands the features of the earlier version 5, adding a left-hand pane for easier access to functions and streamlining the look of the product. However, it’s still easy to recognize. Users of former versions will not be shocked or confused by the changes.
